JEC Project:
Energy Efficient LED Lighting for the Renovation of the YMCA in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

JEC ScopeSupply and Installation of LED Lighting and Lighting Control System
LocationHong Kong
Project Completion Date2010

Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) supplied and installed a variety of Light Emitting Diode (LED) products and a lighting control system for the renovated YMCA building in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

In comparison with traditional incandescent lights and fluorescent tubes, LED lights have a longer operational life of up to 50,000 hours and an efficiency of at least 95%. This high efficiency lowers power consumption and costs.

LED Luminaries
JEC supplied LED luminaries and T8 LED tubes to the YMCA. The LED luminaries include single LED point-like source down lights and twin-head LED adjustable spotlights. These two products are dimmable and best suited for use in hotels, hospitals and commercial areas. A total of 180 units of LED luminaries were supplied and installed in different locations in the YMCA building.

T8 LED Tubes
JEC also provided 100 sets of T8 LED tubes encased in a clear unbreakable polycarbonate. The tubes were used to replace traditional fluorescent tubes. They start without ignition flickering and can sustain continuous switching on and off without being damaged, making them a very suitable product for the YMCA.

Lighting Scene Control System
JEC installed a lighting control system which dims the lights according to a schedule so that during daylight hours lights are dimmed to match lower lighting requirements. This system provides further energy savings.
