Many, though not all, of our environmental infrastructure customers are operators of public services, including health services and water treatment facilities. In Hong Kong, government providers such as the Drainage Services Department and the Architectural Services Department recognise that our solutions use industry best practices to help them protect the environment, by minimising the generation of pollutants, recycling materials, and reducing resource consumption.

Water/Sewage Treatment

JEC has more than three decades of experience in sewage and wastewater treatment. Recent projects have included the design and construction of UV disinfection systems at sewage treatment plants in Shatin, Tai Po and Shek Wu Hui in Hong Kong, which are now capable of disinfecting over 540,000 cubic metres of effluent per day. As well as upgrade works for the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme in Hong Kong, JEC is also involved in the construction and design of two sewage treatment facilities in Manila, the Philippines. We also provide wastewater treatment systems for industrial facilities and power plants.

Municipal Waste Management

A further capability is in waste management. In 2008 in time for the Hong Kong Equestrian Olympics, JEC designed, built and operated Hong Kong's first animal waste recycling plant, which transforms 25 tonnes of horse waste into environmentally friendly fertilisers every day. In addition to waste recycling, JEC can provide centralised waste management systems for single buildings or entire neighbourhoods.
